'Desert Moth' (Keith Keppel, R. 2011) Sdlg. 05-97A. TB, 30" (76 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards coffee tan (M&P 11-G-2), central region shaded and veined old helio purple (45-J-9) to amethyst (45-J-8); style arms cornsilk (10-G-3), lips lavender; Falls sunlight (10-H-4) to amber yellow (10-J-3) paling slightly near beard; beards golden poppy (9-L-12) in throat, orange rufous (11-L-12) in middle, rusty orange at end. 00-103A: (96-19G, 'Opposing Forces' sib, x 96-28B, 'Mysterious Ways' sib) X 01-97A: (96-28B x 'Safari Sunse').

 

Hybridizer's Comment : Dark amethyst standards gradually vein and shade to coffee tan on the outer portion. Strongly flared, ruffled amber yellow falls dip gracefully tord the end. Shoulders, lightly shaded apricot tan, and a small area of amber ivory accentuate the striking brownish rust beards. About seven moderately large exotic blooms per stem.
